Spare
Parts / Replacements for Lafuma Products

Replacement elastic laces!
Spare
Parts for Lafuma ( or La Fuma ) Recliners
You can also obtain spare and
replacement parts for Lafuma recliners.
Generally speaking you shouldn't
need Lafuma spares for a very long time. The people who do need them nearly
all fall into one of two categories: either they have had their Lafuma
recliner for over a decade and the elastic laces have started to fray
(busy reflexologists may find theirs start to go a little sooner because
of the extra strain), or they bought them recently and the arms or foam
armrests have become damaged in storage. Remember, if you bought your
Lafuma recently, that there is a two-year manufacturer's warranty!

Lafuma
Elastic Laces
If the elastic cords that attach
the central canvas of your Lafuma recliner to the metal frame have become
worn or frayed, replacements are available. See the image at the head
of this page.
Lafuma now supply these cords
or elastic laces pre-cut to length to suit the most common types of reclining
chair, but you can still sometimes find the older packs with the elastic
in a single length of 8 metres, which you then cut to length to suit any
one of the Lafuma chairs or products that uses elastic laces - reclining
chairs, sunbeds, loungers, easy chairs and so on. One eight-metre elastic
length will re-string one RSX or RSXA recliner, with a bit left over.
Basic instructions for cutting the single length of elastic to length
are on the reverse of the packet. You can click
here for an image of these older instructions, which will open in
a new window.
Replacement Lafuma elastics
cost £11.00, and are sent out by first class post. Obviously, if
you order more than one set at a time the postage cost per unit will go
down.
The colours available are black,
green, dark blue, or white. White will match either the Denim or Seigle
Lafuma recliners, and dark blue also matches the Denim. It is best to
call first to check availability, as there are sudden unaccountable flurries
of demand for these, usually from Scotland for some unknown reason - and
when they run out in the UK, it can take a long time to get any more in
from France.

Touch-Up Paint
There is a touch-up repair
paint kit for Lafuma furniture.
The Lafuma recliners and chairs
we stock are tough. Really tough. In fact, most of the time if you think
their paintwork needs touching up, it is because they have picked up stains
or paint from something else they have bashed against, and come off better
in the encounter.
So it should be a long time
before you need one of these little retouching kits. What you get is a
small pot of paint with a brush inside the lid, colour matched to the
main Lafuma frame colours. It's not cheap (in fact we have asked Lafuma
why it can't be cheaper), but this together with some of our other spare
parts is an excellent way of smartening up an old or tired-looking Lafuma
recliner or chair.

Lafuma
Recliner Arms and Armrests
People tend to need to replace
the armrests on their recliners after they have been damaged in storage
- either when putting them away or, as more than one person has said,
"nibbled by mice". A good way to avoid this problem in the first
place is to invest in a carrying/storage case for the recliner: click
here for more details.
The foam part of the armrest
is sometimes available, but it is usually easier to unscrew and replace
the whole arm. Replacement arms are availabel in a range of colours.

Not the easiest things to photograph well...
The arms come with a set of
bolts for fixing, for which you will need a Torx T25 screwdriver or key
or the equivalent.

Replacement
"Canvas"
After years of saying that
no such thing existed, in 2004 Lafuma came up with replacements for the
central fabric part of the recliner, in both padded and Batyline fabric.
They're not cheap, unfortunately, but if you're considering throwing out
your Lafuma recliner because the "canvas" is worn out, now you
don't have to.

These are posted as cheaply as possible - the Batyline will fold up, the
padded ones won't.
Availability of these is limited,
so do please call on 01865 876 650 to check whether the colour you need
is available.
"Horseshoes"
and "Feet"
Lafuma recliners do tend to
shed small oddly-shaped plastic and rubber bits as you use them. These
are intended to prevent the pointy metal folding bits from damaging anything,
and to raise the legs slightly off the floor. Losing them doesn't seem
to cause anyone any problems, and indeed when you find one on the floor
after putting away your Lafuma it is often quite difficult to figure out
where it is missing from!
Nevertheless, if you feel your
Lafuma is incomplete without one of these, replacements are available
- they come in sets of four, in either black or white, and cost £3.50
for the set of either rubber "horseshoes" or plastic "feet".

These are the "feet" - they fit round the tube that the recliner
rests on to protect it
Nuts
and Bolts and Bits and Bobs
If you need a bit of a Lafuma
not described above, it is worth getting in touch. It is a good idea to
take a photograph of the damaged part (or of where it is missing from)
and e-mail it, so we can be certain we are talking about the same thing,
as many of these are extremely difficult to describe. We can't promise,
but we will do our best to match and replace what you need.
In addition, we stock the Torx
T25 screwdrivers that you need for tightening up or removing all those
funny-headed screws on your Lafuma recliner.
